Running on Love with GOD program: “Why must we lose our need to please others?”
We are all born wired to please our parents. As we grow up our desire to please others increases. We all desire friendship, love and the approval of other people in our lives. This desire can be detrimental to us if left unchecked. God gave us the commandment to honor our mother and father but it doesn’t necessarily mean we must please them. Why must we lose our need to please others?
Program Description: As children we not only desire the good opinion of others but we are required to gain the approval of our parents, teachers and coaches. Gaining the good opinion of people who have influence in our lives is critical to our success. It can also become our undoing if this need grows unchecked. There are many people in our lives we admire and from whom we desire approval about our life decisions. Do we need their approval or their guidance? The difference is enormous.
On this program of Running on Love with GOD we will explore the need for the good opinion of others. There are many commandments we must obey and the first is arguably the most important. Rule number one: “I am the Lord your God.” If we don’t understand rule number one and obey this completely, we sin immediately. When our priority becomes seeking the approval of other people, we are doomed to succumb to an insidious form of idol worship. Many people have our best interest at heart, however we all must make our own life decisions. Choosing is a requirement in every moment as we journey through our lives. In the end, we are answerable to every single choice and decision. There are no hidden skeletons in our closet when we cross over and face our Creator. Hashem is the final judge and arbiter of everything so it’s crucial for our personal well-being to develop inner strength and relinquish the need of the good opinion of others. This is extremely challenging because we all desire love and community. Listen to this program of Running on Love with GOD where I share how it is possible to achieve complete autonomy in our personal lives.
